Kaelon Black Week 1 Breakout
Kaelon Black out-touched Christian McCaffrey in Melbourne — 70 yards on 15 touches — and that may be the point.

In Dynasty it is all about staying ahead of the competition. We must identify early opportunity signals before the market prices them in — especially with rookies who land in the right scheme with a clear path to touches.
The box score line will not go in a scrapbook: 14 carries, 65 yards, one catch for five. Nobody is cutting a highlight reel out of 4.6 yards a pop. But the number that mattered in San Francisco's 27–7 dismantling of the Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground wasn't the yardage. It was the 14.
Kaelon Black, playing his first regular-season NFL game, touched the ball more often than Christian McCaffrey did. That is not a sentence anyone expected to write about a Kyle Shanahan offense in Week 1.

Black graded as the RB3 of the 2026 RB class per Elite Drafters. His standalone EIG supermetric was never top-tier, but his overall post-draft model grade was notable — a profile that valued fit, role projection, and opportunity alongside the raw traits. See the 2026 Class Model for the analytics behind each profile.
The Split
McCaffrey finished with 10 carries for 68 yards and five catches for 20 more — 88 all-purpose yards on a quiet afternoon, and a 6.8 yards-per-carry average that was his most efficient outing since the 2024 game in which he tore up his knee. He looked like the McCaffrey of two years ago, which is exactly what San Francisco needed to see.
