2027 TE Class

Today we wrap up our 2027 class early preview series with the TEs. In total across QBs, RBs, WRs, and TEs we have covered nearly 50 prospects from the 2027 class. By identifying the pipeline of future elite talent, we are one step ahead of our league mates and consensus.

The Strategic Edge

While the market is focused on the 2026 class, we can use that attention and hype to increase our exposure to 2027. As league mates push 2026 prospects up in immediate value, we have the opportunity to stay disciplined and focus on where the real value lies. Sell the upside of 2026 — and collect 2027 and 2028 picks.

Elite Tier

TE1Trey'Dez Green
LSU
86.5
Elite

Green is a strong bet at the top of this class because the physical profile is rare. At 6'7", ~240 pounds, he brings elite size, length, and catch radius with the ability to win vertically and dominate in the red zone. He moves unusually well for his frame, showing fluidity and body control that allow him to function as a true mismatch weapon rather than just a traditional inline tight end. As a true sophomore at LSU he posted 33 receptions for 433 yards and 7 touchdowns, establishing himself as a legitimate scoring threat early. When you combine early production, elite program pedigree (LSU), size-adjusted athleticism, and red-zone dominance, this has the makings of a complete profile. Projects as a Round 2 NFL Draft pick with upside into late Round 1. In dynasty rookie drafts, he profiles as a late 1st to mid-2nd round pick with TE1 upside.

TE2Jamari Johnson
Oregon
86.0
Elite

Johnson is one of my favorite TEs of this 2027 class — the analytical profile is special. He had the best single season YPRR of this group with 2.45 as a junior, alongside a 4.3% career drop rate giving him arguably the most reliable hands in the class. He posted 32 receptions for 510 yards and 3 touchdowns with strong vertical efficiency. For context: Kenyon Sadiq YPRR last season was 1.62 vs. Johnson's 2.45 — and Sadiq's career drop rate is 9.0% vs. Johnson's 4.3%. The data is clear. At 6'4"-6'5", 250+ pounds, Johnson is a modern move tight end with chunk-play capability. Projects as a Round 1-3 NFL Draft pick and is a dark horse candidate to be TE1 of this class with another productive season.
